Na Gaeil CLG, Kerry
Irish Language Winner

Na Gaeil CLG are winners of the Irish Language Award for its exceptional commitment to promoting the Irish language and culture at grassroots level, a real achievement outside a traditional Gaeltacht area. Based in Tralee, the club has embedded Gaeilge into every aspect of its operations, from signage and communications to training sessions, cultural events, and everyday interactions.
The club’s name and logo are proudly Irish-only, and all internal and external signage has been replaced with Irish or bilingual versions. Weekly club notes feature Irish phrases for use in training and games, sparking conversations and encouraging learning among players, coaches, and parents. This initiative has become a popular and effective way to bring Gaeilge into daily life in a natural and inclusive manner.
Part-funding from the National Lottery has helped Na Gaeil expand its cultural programming, including Irish language classes, dance workshops, and Scór competitions. Na Gaeil’s efforts have created a welcoming, vibrant environment where members of all ages and backgrounds feel part of a shared cultural journey. Both on and off the pitch, Gaeilge is spoken, celebrated, and lived — making the club a true champion of Ireland’s linguistic heritage.
The National Lottery Good Causes Awards is proud to honour Na Gaeil CLG for its inspiring dedication to the Irish language and its role in building a more inclusive and culturally rich community.
