Good Causes Funding

Good Causes Annual Report 2023 PLI welcomes the publication of the National Lottery Good Causes Annual Report by the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform, the first of its kind, which provides the public with greater transparency around the allocation of funding to Good Causes. The National Lottery Good Causes Funding Report 2023 is the first annual report of its kind. The report highlights the link between National Lottery and funding for Good Causes across the country.

Does the National Lottery allocate Good Causes funds?

While National Lottery players raise the funds for Good Causes, the National Lottery has no role, either directly or indirectly, in allocating Good Causes funding. Instead, applications for funding must be made to different government departments or agencies, depending on each organisations area of activities.

At present, Good Causes funds are transferred from the National Lottery Fund by the Regulator of the National Lottery to the Central Exchequer. The money is used to part-fund expenditure by Government Departments across the categories outlined below.

Each Government department or body accepts applications for funding on an annual basis and disperses grants accordingly.

Below are details of the areas that are part funded by the National Lottery and where to apply for funding.
