Millennium Family Resource Centre

The Millennium Family Resource Centre was founded in 2003. The Centre was established for the sole purpose of enhancing the well-being and quality of life for all members in their community. The Centre is situated in Glengoole, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Their aim is to support individuals and groups within the community to bring about positive change and have a say in decisions which affect their lives.

The projects that the Centre support are invaluable to the entire community. These include an array of support from preschool childcare, meals on wheels, adult & youth counselling as well as many other services that are vital within this community. Additionally, the Centre supports nine local primary and two secondary schools through the Tusla Meitheal framework of supports for families.

In 2019, the Good Causes funds raised by our players allowed this Centre on a pilot basis to provide youth counselling service for those aged between 12 and 24 years of age. The need was identified through their collaborative work with the local Fethard / Killenaule Youth Project and a survey of young people in terms of their mental health needs. Their in-house counsellor took on the additional youth counselling work with referrals coming from the Youth Project, local schools and GPs. The issues presenting were on the higher end of the mental health spectrum i.e. feelings of depression, anxiety, exam pressures, LGBTI issues, self harm and suicide ideation. The Family Resource Centre was able to provide this immediate service with no waiting time required. This service has also impacted very positively for parents and wider family members who are comforted by the immediate access to this service.

The work that the Millennium Family Resource Centre carries out in the community is wonderful.
We're delighted to support such a fantastic organization that helps improve the well-being and quality of life for all members in their community.
