Now one of Ireland’s most-active clubs, Kanturk Cycling Club was established 30 years ago in the Dulhallow region of County Cork with just two members. The club has achieved lots of success over the years, including Gold National team and individual medals, and while the club is especially proud of the two members currently racing for professional teams, it caters for social cyclists as well as competitive.
Funding from our players has been critical to Kanturk CC’s ongoing success, by helping them upgrade their fantastic 250m outdoor track – the only Olympic track in Ireland, and the surrounding barriers. This investment means Kanturk’s track is up to a national and international competition standard, used for both Munster and National competitions. The track also brings visitors from far and wide to train and compete, as well as hosting training camps and competitions from u12 to u18s at both a provincial and national level.
Without the funding, Kanturk CC would not have been able to complete the track and their aim now is to provide facilities for cyclists so they can change during and after training and competition. This track has meant a lot to the people of Kanturk as it has had an impact on the whole community and business within the area. It is a fabulous facility for the youth and adults of the region.
This cycling club’s history is inspirational and we're so proud to support them.
