County Mayo’s Ballintubber GAA Club has been in existence since the 1940s, giving the communities of Ballintubber and Clogher Gaelic football teams to play for and support ever since. The Club has won 5 of the 7 Senior County finals it has contested, the first win coming as recently as 2010.
The heartbeat of the communities it represents, the club was able to upgrade its facilities in both Ballintubber and Clogher, thanks to funding raised by Lottery players. The benefits bestowed on the community are incalculable. The facilities had been run down and were in disrepair, the pitch in Ballintubber wasn’t standard size, there was no shelter or stand and the dressing rooms were old and in a very dilapidated state. Catering facilities didn’t exist, and there was nowhere to hold Community meetings or to cater for local organisations. All of the above has been totally transformed with magnificent new facilities in both Ballintubber and Clogher.
Ballintubber GAA share facilities with Carnacon Ladies LGFA (one of the most successful ladies football clubs in Ireland), Bord na nÓg, Mothers and Others GAA, underage teams and other community groups such as Ballintubber Over 55s Club and Ballintubber Basketball. The Community Nurse also is based in the complex and the facilities are available to all those in the community who wish to hold meetings and functions. They also laid a community walkway used by young mothers when they drop off children at the local school and elderly people who require a safe setting for exercise. A gym was also constructed for local people to enjoy and an Astro Turf Pitch to cater for youngsters and children. The impact has been enormous in their wonderful community. The facilities now can cater for the superstars of the future as well as the elderly who can enjoy these grounds.
We're so proud to support this fantastic club with such a strong purpose in their community.
