McCarthy's on a Winning Streak

25/10/2011 14:44:00

McCarthy’s store on Tallow St, Youghal, Co. Cork is on a winning streak. This week the store celebrated the fifth customer to appear on the National Lottery’s popular TV Gameshow, Winning Streak. And the good news doesn’t end there. Over the past 20 years, four jackpot winning tickets have been sold at the store.

On Saturday, Noel Kenneally from Youghal became Liam McCarthy’s fifth customer to appear on Winning Streak after he bought a lucky Scratch Card at the store. Noel won a fantastic €50,000 including a holiday to New York.

Last year Tony O’Connell took home €48,800. In 2006 Pearl Murphy won €26,450, while a year earlier Rose Murphy won €16,850. In 1998 Martin Beirne won €13,586. All these lucky winners bought their Scratch Cards in McCarthys.

McCarthys winning streak began in 1991 when they sold a Lotto jackpot winning ticket worth €152,168. The luck continued just two years later when a customer won a Lotto jackpot of €353,074. In 2004 they sold a Lotto Plus 2 top prize winning ticket worth €200,000 and in 2006 a winning ticket for a prize worth €247,374.
