THIRD LARGEST JACKPOT SO FAR THIS YEAR
This Friday the EuroMillions jackpot is an estimated €90 million. A player in Ireland is as likely to win or share in that jackpot as any other player in Europe, if they match the elusive five numbers and two lucky stars. This jackpot has been rolling since Tuesday 24 May 2011 and has rolled seven times so far.
In last Friday’s draw a lucky player(s) matched five numbers to win a fantastic €53,939, just two numbers away from scooping the jackpot of over €68 million. The lucky €6 Quick Pick ticket was bought in SuperValu, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo.
The largest EuroMillions jackpot this year was on Friday 25 March 2011, when the jackpot reached over €138 million. On that occasion there were two winners. The lucky tickets were sold in Belgium and Portugal.
The EuroMillions game, which now takes place every Tuesday and Friday, has been very lucky for players in Ireland since it began in 2004. Since then, the total in EuroMillions prizes won by players in Ireland is a whopping €386.6 million.
There have been eight prizes of €1 million or more won by Irish players since EuroMillions began in 2004. Dolores McNamara from Limerick remains the biggest EuroMillions winner in Ireland so far, since she won over €115 million in July 2005. Her win still ranks as one of the largest EuroMillions wins in Europe.
Friday’s EuroMillions draw will be broadcast on RTÉ ONE at approx. 11:40pm.
