LARGEST EUROMILLIONS JACKPOT ON OFFER IN EUROPE SINCE 2006
Summer time is one of the luckiest seasons for EuroMillions jackpot winners in Ireland. Since the game was launched here in 2004, three jackpots have been won by players in Ireland and all were hit during the sunny summer months.
Ireland’s biggest ever jackpot win was in July 2005. A player who bought a ticket in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary hit the €15 million jackpot in July 2008 and a family syndicate took home over €29.4 million in June 2009. Will another lucky player in Ireland win big with EuroMillions this summer?
Tuesday’s jackpot is now heading for an astounding €170 million. That’s the largest EuroMillions jackpot on offer in Europe since November 2006. If a single player scoops the jackpot, (s)he will break Irish National Lottery records by becoming our largest ever jackpot winner and jump to 52nd place on Ireland’s Rich List ahead of Cecelia Ahern, Orla Kiely and Moya Doherty (Sunday Times Rich List).
Two players in Ireland were just two numbers away from hitting the €150 million jackpot on Friday evening. The lucky tickets were bought in Stephen Street News, Stephen St, Dublin 2 and Duffys, Bettystown, Co. Meath. The lucky players, who both won with Quick Pick selections, scooped €40,206.
Also on Friday evening, a happy Brazilian duo from the South-East won the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000. They bought their lucky ticket in Spar, Ferrybank, Waterford.
If the jackpot is not won on Tuesday evening, Friday’s jackpot will be heading for €185 million which will make it the biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot.
