The ninth show of the National Lottery’s Summer TV Gameshow ‘The Big Money Game’, hosted by Derek Mooney, took place in RTÉ Studios on Saturday, 30 July 2011. The five players from Down, Kildare (2), Clare and Cork won prizes to the value of €424,000. The biggest winner on the night was Joseph O’Connor from, Castletownroche, Co. Cork who won prizes to the value of €283,500.
Joseph and his wife Mary have been married for the past 37 years. They have three sons – Alan, Jason and Damian. His sons Alan and Jason both live in Chicago.
Joe purchased the Scratch Card himself but missed the show as he was getting ready to go out to a party. Neighbours called to the door to pass on the good news. Joe likes socialising and enjoys being outdoors especially when the weather is nice.
Joseph plans to treat himself and Mary to a trip to the USA to visit his brother in Jersey and his sons in Chicago.
