Kennco staff scoop over €8.5m October 31st 2009 most definitely wasn’t an ordinary day at the office for Kennco Underwriting in Rathfarnham. For one thing, it was a Saturday. More importantly for the 20 staff who had already bought their Lotto ticket in the local Centra at Grange Road, it was the day that their numbers came up. They hit the jackpot and won a jaw-dropping €8,533,395.
We can imagine a flurry of insurance underwriters, a blur of excited speed-tapping on calculators and a quick conclusion that they had all just given themselves a nice little pre-Christmas bonus of €426,669.75 each. Or maybe they were very reserved and congratulated each other quietly, spending the rest of Monday not thinking at all about what they were going to do with their windfalls. What, you don’t believe so? No, neither do we.
