Youths of all ages the real winners in Buncrana

Youth Club bags €530,000 grant for new centre
Now that they’ve got a very impressive new sports and activity hall in Buncrana, Co. Donegal, we’re wondering if the original members of the Youth Club are put out just a little bit. Seeing that the official opening took place on the club’s 40th anniversary that possibly puts them the slightest bit on the wrong side of the age barrier for membership.
We’ve no doubt that the current junior members will still happily share the fabulous facilities. As Buncrana’s Mayor Lee Tedstone said, ‘The real heroes of the last 40 years are the mothers and fathers, the leaders and the organisers who have got up early on their Saturday and Sunday mornings and come down here to facilitate others.’
We couldn’t agree more, and we’re proud that we were able to help. The investment for the new hall was €800,000 in total, and the community received a grant for €530,000 of it, part-funded through the National Lottery. We hope that youths from 3 to 93 knock great sport out of it.
