Knowing the score with Cork Youth Services

Youth, and we’re fairly sure we can remember that far back, means lots of uncertainty about lots of things. Even if our own kids don’t actually believe we were ever young ourselves. But we were, and that’s one of the reasons why we’re keen to support Youth Information Centres across Ireland.
Take Bandon YIC in West Cork. For over twenty years it’s been helping young people to know their rights and benefits, and get valuable information on health, welfare and just what opportunities are out there. In 2009 it received €67,700 in funding support to help run a drop-in centre and the outreach programmes that it brings to local schools and youth organisations. All important stuff.
Overall, over €913,000 was spent on projects throughout Cork. The way we see it, that money is really an investment, helping a new generation to know what’s what, and we’re happy to help the Office of the Minister for Youth and Children with the funding.
