Giving for giving’s sake: the Irish Kidney Association
Regular funding helps promote organ donor awareness

We’re very pleased to make regular funding available to the Irish Kidney Association. Their Organ Donor Public Awareness Campaign is such an important message for those waiting on transplants. Even though 2,400 people have had successful transplant operations, there are 600 on the list at present, so the work of awareness goes on.
In August 2010 the 6th European Transplant and Dialysis Games took place in Dublin. In all, 24 nations were represented by 350 athletes, and Ireland came second. We were beaten by Hungary, just by a whisker, but we beat third placed Germany to take Silver.
Mary Kennedy from Cork, our Winning Streak Dream Maker player, got to drop in prior to the Games, just to make sure the Irish Kidney Association team’s rigorous training sessions were up to scratch. Thumbs up, reckoned Mary. Here’s to more medals - at the even tougher World Games in June 2011 in Sweden. Go team!
